I figured out how to solve the Loop The City game.  It’s madly addictive but fun once you get the hang of it.

Puerto Rico You Lovely Island

We always enjoy visiting Puerto Rico on vacation and have even given thought to spending more time there in the winter.  This recent bit of fantastic news from their house of reps gives us another reason to visit.

Puerto Rico’s house of representatives has denied a measure to toughen a ban on same-sex marriage.

Rep. Victor García San Inocencio says Resolution 99 failed on Thursday to make it to the house floor for voting, effectively killing the proposal for this legislative term.

The measure would have amended the U.S. territory’s constitution to establish that marriage is between a man and woman and that no other types of unions could be recognized. Thus, it would have made it harder to allow civil unions or grant marital rights to unmarried couples.

Critics said the amendment was unnecessary because local laws already ban same-sex marriage. Others argued it was discriminatory. (AP)

Two Jacks and a Queen

Casino marketing fascinates me and I must say the following ad from Paris targeting the gays is absolutely brilliant.  (Michael and I gambled at the Paris once.  Everything wasn’t sexier there and I personally found it a bit creepy that the staff tried to speak French but with this clever ad maybe we will consider staying there.  Yes, I am that obsequious).

With all the industry marketing research likely available to them, it is curious to wonder if they proceeded with this very gay ad hoping their more conservative mass market clientele wouldn’t notice or even better assume they don’t care.

The Trouble With Crappy Estate Planning

A while ago I posted about Leona Helmsley’s ridiculous will - she gave most of her fortune to her maltese.  Well, looks like I wasn’t alone in this opinion.  I pity the lawyers who have to fight this one out.

Judge reduces trust fund for Leona Helmsley’s dog

NEW YORK (AP) — Leona Helmsley’s dog isn’t quite as well-heeled as she used to be. Manhattan Surrogate Judge Renee Roth has reduced the trust fund for the little dog, named Trouble, from $12 million to $2 million.

The remaining $10 million now goes to Helmsley’s charitable foundation.

The 9-year-old Maltese lives in Florida with the general manager of the Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel. Helmsley died last August.

The court decision, made April 30, became public Monday.

The Best Tony Award Coverage Ever

Congratulations all around to last night’s Chicago Tony winners.  Great the theater community here is getting the attention it deserves.

I couldn’t help but be reminded, though, of last year’s hilarious coverage courtesy of Conan O’Brien.

From AP: Dem’s Reluctant to take on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

Surprise, surprise…

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats say the nation should be ashamed of its ban on gays serving openly in the military. It discourages qualified people from joining the ranks at a time when the armed forces are stretched by two wars, they say, and is degrading to those willing to serve their country.

So what have the Democrats done about it? Nothing, really.

It can’t be done…

This game has been driving me crazy.  Think of it as an upgraded version of minesweeper.  Can anyone else solve it?
